I got a Crush on Obama
I'm sure you guys knew this already, but before you start to think I've crossed over to the other side "I've got a crush on Obama" is the title of the pop video below.Apparently the Video was shot by Democratic supporters of Obama and has no connection to his official campaign office (who apart from denying responsibility have chosen not to comment on the Video).
Like the 1984 Video critics have started to debate whether it could help or hinder the Obama Campaign and whether the candidate should distance himself further from it. I personally liked it and thought its a bit of fun and may potentially help increase his profile amongst young female voters (I know that very few of this set are as shallow as Jenna from 30 Rock), but he certainly needs to do something to cut the lead Hilary has that critics have claimed to be predominantly due to her support from women.
Anyway apart from attempting to support the Obama campaign, the Wharton school of business graduate who produced the video has started selling "I got a crush on Obama" T-Shirts. Talk about enterprenurial spirit!

I think people forget that everything in the US is pretty much about race and it takes someone pretty serious to cross those barriers.
This in my opinion does the thing that many people fear, it puts this black married man in a 'sexual position' or fantasy position in the arms of this white woman and this is not going to go down to well in the south.
It would be funny, in a situation where Obama isn't being called to task over his blackness left, right and centre. it would be funny if he wasn't always trying to be reduced to a stereotype or labelled the 'clean negro'.
i think this is 'spin' and will work against him.

No Wonder Obama's campaign doesn't want to comment on the video. In middle America, this will cost him much votes.
his campaign has been trying to to stay on point, stay focused, push his 'safe family man' agenda.

@ Soul I can see the parallels with the Harold Ford Jr smear campaign (I must admit to having missed this when it was in the news!) I guess good intentions don't always make it right (the video was ostensibly made by supporters of the obama camp).
I think a lot of people will however be able to see it as just abit of light entertainment. But you are right in a campign where he is already struggling to get the black vote there are certain prejudices you want to let lie...
